KUCHING: Police here confirmed the finding of a man’s body floating in Satok River near Kampung No 6, Jalan Patinggan today morning (Aug 11).
Kuching deputy police chief Supt Merbin Lisa said the police managed to identify the deceased as an 80-year-old man who was reported missing by his family after leaving his house on Aug 9.
“Preliminary examinations on the body found no signs of suspicious injury and it (body) was in a state of decay.
“Other than that, the deceased was fully clothed and his wallet was also found in his back pocket,” he said.
The body has been taken to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for a post-mortem to identify the cause of death.
With that, Merbin advised the public not to create any speculations pertaining to the incident.
Earlier, it was reported that the body’s discovery was made by Sarawak Rivers Board (SRB) personnel around 11.30am.
The body was found floating face down in the water.
