KUCHING: Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How has cited his recent resignation from Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) was to focus on working on several initiatives that can bring all Sarawakians and move forward together.
He said he has been thinking about some plans that would benefit Sarawak and its people and is ready to work with everybody and anybody regardless of their political affiliation and background.
“So, I decided to be free from politics and become an independent assemblyman, which I believed would allow me to have more time to do what I wanted to do,” he said.
“But, I would not be telling you what are the initiatives or plans now, I will let the results and outcomes (later) tell the story,” he told reporters at a press conference held at his service centre here today.
Therefore, See would remain as an independent assemblyman and has no plans to join any political party in the near future. He also said he has never thought of forming his own party as well.
He said that he was willing to work with everybody and anybody, including the Non-Governmental Organisation (NGOs), Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) as well as the other opposition parties in the state.
“Instead of being GPS-friendly or opposition-friendly, I will be friendly with everybody. I want to work with anyone who wants to contribute for the betterment of Sarawak,” he said.
“So, it is not about PSB (is not a good party) or the party president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh but rather the different way (I decided) of doing things.
PSB still has many good and hardworking leaders and members that want to bring more changes in Sarawak,” he said.
See has been thinking about quitting PSB to focus on his own plans for a number of months already, thus, the decision has nothing to do with the anti-hopping law which was passed at the Dewan Rakyat last month.
On Sunday, DUN Speaker Tan Sri Asfia Awang Nasa announced that See had resigned from the party and wished to remain as Batu Lintang State Assemblyman as an Independent in the state assembly.
The three-term assemblyman won the Batu Lintang seat in the 12th Sarawak state elections last December in a five-cornered contest against Sih Hua Tong (GPS), Cherishe Ng (PKR), Voon Lee Shan (PBK) and Alex Leong (Aspirasi).
He had joined PSB together with Ba Kelalan assemblyman Baru Bian in May 2020, one month after being sacked from PKR.
