Yayasan Sarawak (Sarawak Foundation) is responsible for carrying out activities and programmes that benefit Sarawak’s development, education, and human capital.
Yayasan Sarawak director Mersal Abang Rosli said that the Sarawak Foundation will continue to perform that role, ensuring that the next generation has job opportunities in skilled fields.
The SRC Global Resources Sdn Bhd company and Yayasan Sarawak worked together to produce talented young people, particularly in the Iron Scaffolding Preparation programme.
A graduation ceremony for the inaugural cohort of the Oil and Gas Industry Scaffolding Program was held at the Yayasan Sarawak Auditorium on August 4 this year.
Thirty students, who are funded by Yayasan Sarawak, received a certificate of competence in scaffolding skills.
The Omniwise International Group of Companies also offered the students job opportunities.
The Omniwise personnel who were present at the graduation ceremony demonstrated that the state government, through Yayasan Sarawak, also aids in providing job opportunities for youth who are ready to work in a skilled field.
In general, nearly half of the large projects in this country involve infrastructure construction, which can be detrimental if young people, particularly those from Sarawak, do not take advantage of the opportunities offered in addition to the sponsored assistance provided.
At the moment, Yayasan Sarawak is funding 525 trainees at IKM Bintulu and ADTEC Kemaman in Terengganu.
All 525 trainees received the Department Of Occupational Safety and Health Certificate, or DOSH for short, and were promptly deployed as scaffolders in Pengerang, Johor, Melaka, and Terengganu.
This proves that Sarawak has been positioned as a high productivity state capable of producing a competitive generation by 2030 by the state government, led by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
