KUCHING: A diabetes-stricken partially blind single mother who has been struggling to cope with life has found some timely help from an unlikely source.
Big-hearted members of the Sibu 4×4 Club proved that there is much more to them than off-road adventure seeking when they reached out after getting to know the plight faced by Norlela Bujang.
They agreed to pay her house rental for a duration of 20 months which amounts to RM10,000.
Norlela who will lives with her 11-year-old daughter at Samarahan has been living under the care of Hope Place since 2021.
In a statement on Monday (Aug 22) Hope Place said the Sibu benefactors were deeply moved by her predicament.
Her only source of income comes from the Social Welfare Department (JKM) and Baitumal, which amounts to RM500 and RM300 monthly.
However with inflation, rent and household bills, Norlela, who needs dialysis treatment three times a week, has been struggling to keep her daughter and herself afloat financially.
Recently, a representative of the Sibu 4×4 Club, Wong Siong Ping visited Norlela to inform her that the club will help her with the rental by providing RM500 monthly for 20 months.
Hope Place Kuching extended its gratitude to Sibu 4×4 Club members for their generosity.
“It is through the care and concern of the community that we can bring hope and change many lives,” it said.
