SIBU: A family of five was left homeless after their home was destroyed by a blaze at Jalan Ing Guong, Sungai Bidut in the early hours today.

The State Fire and Rescue Operation Centre (Bomba) said that Sungai Merah Bomba station received a distress call regarding a house on fire at 12.59am.

Firemen from the station were deployed to the scene at Jalan Ing Guong in Sungai Bidut to commence the operation.

“The operation commander on field reported that a wooden house structure was on fire and completely burnt down to the ground.

“The blaze also destroyed a multipurpose vehicle (MPV) and three nearby motorcycles,” it said.

The fire was controlled and prevented from spreading to a kindergarten next door and was put out using a nearby fire hydrant. The operation ended at 3.24am.
