KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Sarawak government remains committed to defending the need for identification documents by people from the peninsula to enter Sarawak.
Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Legal, MA63,State-Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali said the matter is one of the rights given to Sarawak under MA63.
“People who want to question (needing a pass to enter Sarawak) let it be, we will stick to our position so that the things that were agreed upon when signing MA63 will continue to be defended and fought for.
“This is because it is Sarawak’s right under MA63 where our right is to fight for and defend our immigration.
“It means that we do not want Sarawak’s immigration rights to be questioned because it is a non-negotiable matter under MA63,” she said after officiating at the closing of the “Break Off Samarahan” programme at the Aiman Shopping Mall here today.
She was responding to reporters on the viral issue of individuals questioning the need for identification documents to enter Sabah and Sarawak.
In another development, she supported the anti-drug awareness programme, saying the effort can encourage the involvement of young children in good and healthy activities.
Also present was Member of Parliament for Kota Samarahan, Datuk Rubiah Wang.
