KUCHING: Not only self-check-in flights are available for travellers, but here in the city, visitors can also self-check-in and self-check-out into their rooms at Kuching Park Hotel.

The hotel which has re-opened here has now transformed from a traditional to a smart digital hotel and it is said to be the first smart digital hotel in the country.

Earlier the hotel was temporarily closed for refurbishment work in April this year.

According to the hotel’s Facebook page, Kuching Park Hotel said they are the first hotel in the state to offer guest self-check-in experience and it only takes two minutes to complete the whole check-in experience.

What is more interesting is that, there is also Jill, the room service robot. With this, the hotel is the first and only hotel in the country to deploy robot for room service operations.

“When you order food or amenities, Jill will send them over to you,” the hotel said.

The hotel’s chief operating officer Mason Tang said that there are 108 rooms and all the rooms are equipped with an automation system, while 74 rooms are with smart artificial intelligence (AI) speaker where guests can use their voice command such as to ‘close or open the curtains’ or even ‘play some music’.

“Besides self-check-in through the kiosk at the hotel, there is also a mobile app which allows guests to check-in and a mobile room key will be provided through the app,” he said.

All the rooms are equipped with smart devices.

Meanwhile, the hotel’s chief executive officer Patrick Lau said although it is a fully automated hotel, its housekeeping still plays an important role in the whole operation of the hotel.

“We make sure that all rooms are clean and properly sanitised before our guests can check-in,” he said.

In addition to its newly furbished room, the hotel’s brand new cafe, Park Cafe also offers diners a smart dining experience where they can order from self-order kiosk or the hotel’s Hello World Reward App.
