SIBU: Sarawak Pan-Chen Lau Clan Association (SPCLCA) is holding steadfast to the traditional Chinese culture of respecting and honouring the elderly.

Its president, Albert Lau Pek Kii said filial piety is the key essence of Chinese culture which is greatly valued and passed down through generations.

“Our Chinese community and the guild are always actively organising annual activities that promote filial piety and the traditional virtues of respecting the elderly.

“This is to express our profound gratitude to the elderly or parents for going through trials and tribulations in our upbringing, as well as sacrifices for a brighter future, ” he said at SPCLCA’s veneration of the elderly members event held at a hotel here yesterday.

The event also featured the celebration of the mid-autumn festival and promotion of the association’s welfare fund ceremony.

Lau who contributed a sum of RM20,000 towards the association’s welfare fund was hopeful that it can continue to help the clan members and relatives who are in need, so that the Lau Clan can truly become a loving guild.
