KUCHING: The upgrading projects at RPR Tondong near here, which started September 5, is expected to be completed within three months.

Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian witnessed the handover of agreement letter from the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) to the contractor on Today (Sept 12).

HDC’s chief executive officer Asman Ahmad handover the letter to project director of Sebarik Bina Contractor Company Goh Kwang Yaw at Taman Sri Cahaya, RPR Tondong, Batu Kawa.

Dr Sim, who is also Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government then surveyed the structural condition of the buildings and the surrounding area.

According to Asman, the upgrade is to replace gutters, lattice boards and related works on 11 blocks, including the upgrading of roofs in all the five-storey blocks involving 660 units of flats.

He added that a total of RM432,305 worth of allocation has been channeled by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government to improve the residents’ homes.
