KUCHING: Hock Seng Lee’s (HSL) La Promenade Mall has kicked-off its first Oktoberfest on Sept 16 – bringing lots of variety of food, drinks, live music and fun-runs.

Festival goers have a wide choice of food, including both halal and non-halal to choose from.

The food booths include GE Sausage, Ajishou Sushi, Zoro by Domus Group, and a select few popular booths from the just concluded Kuching Food Festival.

Also taking part at the Oktoberfest is Foo Man Ting and Rume Dining, of which are two new HSL affiliated restaurants opening at the mall and at Gala City soon.

Both of these restaurants are offering previews of their Chinese and Western cuisine.

Whereas anchor tenants of the Oktoberfest are local distributors of Carlsberg, Heineken, Tiger, Asahi, including cocktails bars.

In addition, all the mall’s halal certified tenants including SugarBun, NOMS Malaysia, Taka Patisserie have special promos for the duration of the event.

Earlier, Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Stakan branch chairman Datuk Sim Kiang Chiok was the guest of honour to officiate the opening night of the festival on that night.

He also flagged off the La Promenade Weekend Night Run which saw almost 400 participants joining.
Also present were the directors of HSL, Yu Ji and Simon Lau.

Meanwhile, crowds were also entertained by performances of the local band, Mozaik.

HSL digital marketing manager Sophia Ong said that through Oktoberfest and by holding the Weekend Night Runs, La Promenade Mall is further establishing itself as a community space.

“We have also just launched a Payday Weekend Bazaar, which is every last and first weekend of the month.
“We’re also sponsoring board games competitions, hosting blood donation drives, and planning for Sunset BBQs, more stand-up comedy, and art exhibitions,” she said.

Participants for the weekly night run of 3km and 6km at La Promenade are also free.

The Oktoberfest at the mall is held every Thursday to Sunday, from now until October 9, and starts from 5pm to 12am.

While, music festival favourites, At Adau, a seven-piece band, will headline a concert at the mall on Oct 1.
