KAPIT : A traditional Iban ‘miring’ ceremony has been held for Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) rafting teams taking part in this year’s Baleh Kapit Raft Safari 2017 on 1 and 2 Apirl.
The raft safari will be held at Nanga Sepajie, Majau , Mujong as a flag off point and Rumah Along at Nanga Majau as a transit point. The 1 and 2 April raft safari is the 22nd in a series of rafting competitions first introduced in 1996.
Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi who is also a Member of Parliament for Kapit officiated at the ‘miring’ ceremony held at Rumah Rantai Nanga Semuntie, Baleh along the Melekun road recently.

Also present at the ‘miring’ ceremony were Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat, Macham assemblyman Allan Sidin Gramong, Pelagus asemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang and political secretaries to the Chief Minister of Sarawak Maurice Giri and Tapah Ata.
