KUCHING: Sarawak Government has appointed a rescue contractor to take over the Marudi Bridge project and is expected to complete by 2024.

Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the previous contractor was terminated after they failed to deliver on time.

“People have been asking me how the project is (if it is still being carried out) as there’s no progress …

“Thus, I have looked into the issue seriously and decided to terminate the contractor following the right procedure,” he said during his working visit to Marudi today.

“We appointed a new (rescue) contractor, who has experience in constructing bridges in Long Lama, so, I hope they can complete the Marudi Project by 2024,” he said.

Abang Johari also witnessed the handing over an appointment letter by Sarawak Public Works Director (JKR) director Richard Tajan to Tan Sri Datuk Ling Chiong Ho of Syarikat Pekerjaan Konkerit Sdn Bhd during a ceremony at Dewan Suarah in Marudi.
