LIMBANG: Police here have confirmed a high-speed boat chase involving Brunei Marine Police and a boat believed to belong to a Bruneian in Limbang River on Tuesday (Oct 11).

The incident which happened around 3pm, went viral after two video clips were uploaded on social media.

Limbang OCPD Supt Parum Niot in a statement, said it is an immediate action by the marine enforcement authorities in curbing activities suspected of violating the laws of both countries, namely Malaysia and Brunei.

He stated that the immediate action by Brunei Marine Police was also to maintain the two countries’ safety and security.

“We managed to seize the boat suspected to belong to a Bruneian, who had managed to escape.

“The police are currently investigating the case and working closely with the Royal Brunei Police on the matter,” he said.

Panum assured that the police will take decisive and uncompromising action against all those suspected to be involved in the case for the sake of national security.
