SIBU: Two non-governmental organisations (NGOs) yesterday joined force to hold a mass blood donation campaign at Sing Kwong Shopping Complex in Jalan Salim here.

They are Persatuan Klan Ye (Nan Yang) of Sibu Division and Sarawak Zhong Ee Association(SZEA). According to the chairman of Persatuan Klan Ye (Nan Yang) Sibu Division John Yip Ting Tat, the campaign starting at 10am to 2pm had registered a total of 80 persons who came forward to donate blood.

However, he said only 61 of them were eligible to part with their blood.

He said this was the first time his association held such community service activity in collaboration with SZEA.

The purpose of our campaign is in response to the appeal made by the Blood Bank of Sibu Hospital, ‘Give blood, save life’ and to assist in replenishing its stock supply of blood,” he stated.

Meanwhile he said prior to this campaign, his association’s members had participated in the Belawai beach cleaning programme on May 26.
