SARATOK: A couple managed to escape a death-defying crash after their pickup truck skidded and plunged into a 32-feet-deep ravine along Jalan Saratok-Betong last night (Oct 17).
It was reported that the accident happened near Bukit Prabun around 10.20pm.
Firemen from Saratok station were promptly despatched to the scene, about 9km from the station, to commence rescue works.
Upon arriving, they found that the couple aged 51 and 48, managed to get out of their vehicle and climbed up to the road.
First aid was later administered to the injured victims at the scene by the emergency medical rescue services (EMRS) team.
After that, they were taken to Saratok Hospital for further treatment. The extent to their injuries were not immediately made clear.
Once the situation is safe, the team wrapped up the operation and returned to their station.
