KUCHING: Datuk Larry Sng will be defending his parliamentary seat in Julau in the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15).
On Facebook this morning, he said he will continue to serve and help the people in Julau.
“I’m now a resident and voter in Julau,” he said in the post using Iban language.
However, he has not decided to contest under Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM), as an independent or joining a new party.
“No decision yet. I need to talk to PBM,” he said when contacted.
In 2018, Sng contested as an independent candidate and unseated PRS three-term incumbent Datuk Joseph Salang in the Julau constituency.
Following his victory, he joined PKR, which was part of the new Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition and subsequently became the party chief in Sarawak, replacing Baru Bian.
However, he later left PKR and joined forces with other MPs to form PBM, which was formerly known as the Sarawak Workers Party (SWP).
In December last year, PBM decided to stay out from Sarawak state election and threw its support for the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition.
Early this month, Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin was appointed PBM president, replacing Sng.
The party was reported saying that they would hold a meeting to discuss the position of former president (Sng), including a proposal to create three positions for deputy president.
