FaKUCHING: With three weeks to the polling day, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Petra Jaya branch is gearing up to face the 15th General Election (GE15).
Petra Jaya incumbent Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the party branch has set up its election machinery whereby the work has already started.
“We don’t know who (is the candidate) yet. But, we at the P194 Petra Jaya level are all set,” he told reporters when met.
Earlier, Fadillah was chairing the PBB Petra Jaya Branch GE15 preparation at PBB Headquarters today.
The PBB senior vice president also said that the election machinery operations director for PBB Petra Jaya will be Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, who is also the Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63, State-Federal Relations).
On whether the coming election will see new faces, Fadillah remained tight-lipped but acknowledged that some of the MPs had indicated to step down.
“With this, there will definitely be new faces,” he said.
At the same time, he also echoed the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah’s advice who called on candidates and supporters of political parties to be civil throughout the general election.
“I support the advice by the King where the candidates and party machinery are to campaign prudently as well as adhering to the rules and regulations set in place, and not to carry out below the belt type of campaign.
“And this is the kind of culture that is practised in Sarawak, especially among Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).
“Let us campaign based on the party’s principles and what we can bring to our state and country. And not by attacking one another or things that can cause disruption in our society,” said Fadillah.
