KUCHING: The retail prices of cooking oil are once again lowered effective from Nov 8 until Dec 7.

Caretaker Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said that the price control is according to the moving ceiling price which is based on the estimation of world palm oil price.

“The retail price for the pure palm bottle cooking oil is RM 6.90 for one kilogram, RM13.30 for two kilograms, RM19.90 for three kilograms and RM30.90 for five kilograms,” he said.

Nanta said this to reporters after officiating at the handing over ceremony of Malaysia Family Students Tablet and Food Bank Donation at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) , Kota Samarahan today.

He added that the government through the ministry (KPDNHEP) has fixed the current maximum retail price for the pure bottle cooking oil under Anti-Profiteering and Control Price Order (Maximum Price for Cooking Oil) 2022.

“Any parties found selling above the price aforementioned can be charged under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011.

“The individual can be fined up to RM100,000 of fine or imprisonment not more than three years or both while companies can be fined up to RM500,000,” he added.

In the meantime, members of the public are encouraged by KPDNHEP to provide any information regarding any violation of the law involving the retail price for the cooking oil through their Whatsapp messenger app at 019-2794317 or 019-8488000 or email e-aduan@kpdnhep.gov.my.
