Priority for BESarawak’s destination development plans

KUCHING: Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) will continue to give priority to its destination development programmes and the state’s COVID-19 business events mitigation and recovery plans.

Its chairman Datuk Seri Abang Abdul Karim Tun Datuk Abang Openg said that BESarawak has to be innovative and different to be competitive globally.

“BESarawak has mapped out five of the legacy impact programmes for the benefit of  its communities.

“The BESarawak business events are designed to link to Sarawak’s seven key focus areas of the development plans, as the state drives towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals,” he at the launch of the Diploma in Event Management programme at the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, UCSI Sarawak Campus in Kuching yesterday (Nov 4).

His speech was read by BESarawak director Professor Dr Margaret Chan Kit Yok.

Abdul Karim also said the need for human capital development is inevitable to support the dynamics of BESarawak as the steward of the state government.

“This new programme would assists the state through professional and competent events and festival workforce.

“Thus, it will be the driving force for economic growth for events, festivals and destinations,” he added.
