PUSA: Chinese voters in the Batang Lupar constituency fully support the young candidate featured by Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the 15th general election (GE15).

“Although it will be a challenge for Mohamad Shafizan Kepli to fill the big shoes left by Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim, but with the leadership qualities that exist in the young man, I am confident he will be able to carry them in the future.

“For the Chinese community in Batang Lupar, we will give strong support to Shafizan in order to continue the development agenda in this constituency,” chairman of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Saribas-Betong Branch councillor Datuk Lim Kian Choon said when asked after a campaign programme with the Tiong Hua community here, today.

“I saw the transition between the old representative and the new candidate happening smoothly.

“We should give him a chance, so that he can participate in formulating national policy.

“I really hope that after this, the party leadership will put forward more young people to be elected to represent the people at the state level,” he said.

When asked about the current scenario, especially among young voters, Kian Choon said there is no such thing as a comfort zone.

“Young people can change their mind in a minute, so no candidate should feel comfortable until the polling day.

“Even so, the voice of young people in Batang Lupar will resonate, especially since the candidate who will represent them is also young, only 37 years old,” he explained.

He hoped that Shafizan, when elected, would be able to voice the people’s aspirations in Parliament and that the people in Batang Lupar be given special attention in terms of development – modern agriculture, creating more job opportunities, including emphasis on welfare.
