SRI AMAN: Newbie Mohamad Shafizan Kepli is appealing to Batang Lupar voters to continue supporting Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) for Sarawak to have a louder voice in Parliament.
He said the coalition has a proven track record in governing the state since its establishment in 2018.
“In the past, we had to rely on our former coalition (Barisan Nasional) from the peninsula for permission and to make decisions for us.
“Now, we are standing on our own feet and we are stronger than ever. We will determine who forms the next federal government in this 15th general election (GE15),” the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) candidate said last night (Nov 10).
He was visiting the operations room of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) sub-branches in the Lingga state constituency.
Shafizan, 37, also reminded PBB members to convince supporters to vote for the GPS government to continue the fight for Sarawak’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
Among the villages he visited were Kampung Hilir, Kampung Baru Hilir, Kampung Masjid, Kampung Datuk, Tanjung Engkabang and Kampung Melayu Tanah Baru.
He was accompanied by Lingga assemblywoman Dayang Noorazah Awang Sohor who introduced Shafizan to the sub-branch members.
Noorazah, meanwhile, hoped voters in her constituency would not be confused over the choice of candidate on Nov 19.
“The voters made a wise choice of choosing the right candidate during the 12th state election.
“I believe it should be a problem for them choosing the GPS candidate (Shafizan) as their Batang Lupar MP,” she added.
Shafizan replaced Datuk Seri Rohani Karim, the four-term Batang Lupar MP who stepped down to make way for a new face. She was a three-term Satubong MP from 1990 to 1999.
