KUCHING: “Karnival Permuafakatan N8 Satok” is a good platform to strengthen the unity and ties of the local folk here, said Datuk Ibrahim Baki.

The Satok assemblyman commended the event organisers as the two-day carnival was participated by people of all races from all walks of life and .

“The programme was well received by the community members. This is very good as it can further strengthen the unity, tolerance and harmony in our multiracial society,” he said.

Ibrahim was speaking at the closing of the carnival.

He assured that he and the other state leaders would continue to provide assistance to the Rukun Tertangga (KRT) units in their respective constituencies.

He said the KRT was established to allow community members to participate in the development of their respective local community.

“We are never hesitant when it comes to providing assistance to the KRT and facilities for our constituents. For instance, in Satok, our facilities are complete – we have futsal court, sepak takraw court and badminton court among others.

“These facilities are provided for the local folk because it is a venue for them to gather and interact through sports. Through this interaction, we can establish understanding and foster relationships with one another,” he said.

Also present were Petra Jaya incumbent Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Satok branch chairman Goh Leng Yeu and other dignitaries.
