KUALA LUMPUR: Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) has signed a sponsorship agreement for the Qatar World Cup 2022 with MYTV Broadcasting Sdn Bhd (MYTV).
The signing ceremony was held on Nov 10 at Angkasapuri Kuala Lumpur.
Representing MYTV Group was its chief executive officer Mohamad Helmi Harith while RTM was represented by Datuk Che Roslan Che Daud, the director general of broadcasting.
Helmi said the agreement allows Malaysians to watch the World Cup for free on MYTV platform via channels TV2, Okey and Sukan RTM, all in high definition and uninterrupted digital quality.
There will be a total of 27 live matches as well as 14 delayed telecasts shown over MYTV during the World Cup.
MYTV, which provides a free digital TV platform to all Malaysians, is one of the national broadcasting digitalisation projects to transform the country’s broadcasting industry.
As a developer and operator of the infrastructure and network facilities for the country’s digital TV initiative, MYTV also provides access to more content applications for the viewers and new opportunities for broadcasters.
MYTV can be accessed via Digital terrestrial transmission (DTT) using digital TV connected to UHF antenna or via TV decoder connected to UHF antenna.
MYTV does not charge monthly fees and channels are available in HD Quality.
In addition to the World Cup, MYTV also offers top local contents from public and private broadcasters, including TV1, TV2, TV3, 8TV, TVS, Awesome TV, Suke TV, TV Al-Hijrah, Bernama and radio channels.
