SIBURAN: Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has stressed that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) must win all 31 seats, including Bidayuh-majority areas like Puncak Borneo, Serian and Mas Gading, in the 15th general election (GE15).
“GPS is fielding 31 candidates, and we hope that every single one of them will win.
“We (will) raise our voices in Parliament,” the Premier said when officiating at the SRB Chung Hua Siburan Mini Sport Stadium here on Tuesday (Nov 15).
Abang Johari, who is also the GPS chairman, emphasised the need for GPS having a strong voice in Parliament because there were still numerous outstanding Sarawak rights claims, particularly under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
Urging voters to choose wisely on polling day, he also highlighted that GPS MPs had made numerous amendments, noting that those were just a few of the victories achieved by the state government.
“Who will look after Sarawak if not the Sarawak people,” he stressed.
Also present were Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn; Deputy Minister for Transport, Datuk Dr Jerip Susil; Serian incumbent Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem and the GPS candidate for Puncak Borneo, Datuk Willie Mongin.
Sagah and Dr Jerip are also the Tarat and Mambong assemblyman respectively.
