SIBU: Residents in the Taman Grand Height housing estate here are urged to vote for the candidate who can bring development to their area.
In making the call, Taman Grand Height Association (TGHA) chairman Kapitan Tiong Chong Ting said the right candidate would not only improve the infrastructure, but also help to make Grand Height the best residential area in Sibu.
“Nov 19 is election day. So, I call everyone to go out to vote. However, before casting your vote, we must first think whether the candidate you are going to vote for can bring development to our area,” he said when addressing the association’s committee swearing-in ceremony held at Su Kuok Indoor Stadium, Jalan Mantis here on yesterday night (Nov 16).
The event also witnessed the presentation of education incentives to the members’ children who excelled in last year’s public examinations.
Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng Jin Ek; Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate for Lanang, Wong Ching Yong; and Bawang Assan Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Youth chief Joshua Ting Fu Ying were among those present.
Meanwhile, Wong called on residents to give him the opportunity to serve. “I only ask for five years. If my performance is not satisfactory, you can get rid of me in the next election.”
About 1,000 people, mostly residents of Taman Grand Height, turned up for the event.
