The state government needs to emphasise on producing an outstanding generation of youth who are competitive, innovative, drug-free and professional thinking.
Safiee Ahmad (GPS-Daro) pointed out that with the presence of the youth who portray such traits, Sarawak would turn out youths who are high performers, specifically in becoming a developed state by the year 2030.
“To achieve such aspirations, there are a few efforts that need to be planned and established seriously such as curbing drug activity among the youth in Sarawak,” he said when debating on the State Budget 2023 at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting today (Nov 24).

He added that more second chance education programmes should be conducted among the youths.
“This is for the youth who failed in academics in the secondary school level and more vocational or hands-on programmes in order to raise youths who are competitive and viable,” he said.
Safiee also suggested that the government needed to allocate a specific budget in order to support religious education among the multiracial society in the state.
“Construct a comprehensive strategy in order to inspire the “Sarawakku Sayang” motto among the younger generations.
“God willing, our state will live in peace and harmony if we are able to nurture this spirit among them,” he added.
