The dilemma has been resolved. Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s appointment as Malaysia’s 10th Prime Minister brought an end to all Malaysians’ long wait.

The order of His Majesty, the King, is widely revered. To build a unified and stable Malaysia, the dream of forming a government of unity will be realised.

Undoubtedly, diverse reactions are obtained, but the populace should be receptive to the decision of the nominal power of the nation, as stipulated in Article 42 (2) (a) and Article 40 (2) of the federal constitution (a). In our democratic nation, the people should maintain His Majesty’s constitutional monarchical order.

Rukun Negara must be comprehended and ingrained in the souls of all Malaysians so that the judgements taken are no longer clouded by misunderstandings. This judgement is based on two essential principles — loyalty to the King and the State and the supremacy of the constitution.

People should be receptive to this decision and give the unity government five years to demonstrate their capacity and capability.

As a leader who has been active in politics for 40 years, Anwar’s significance cannot be questioned.

As the leader of the opposition, he has proclaimed the desire for reform that invigorates the spirit of resistance among his supporters. Indeed, Anwar’s leadership is world-class and we believe he is capable of enhancing Malaysia’s stature on the international scene.

After over two decades of waiting, the time has come for him to realise his dreams.

What do people anticipate from the government of unity?

The unity government is the force that will steer the new administration desired by all sectors of society. The inclusion aspect is very important to Sabah and Sarawak when it comes to the formation of the new federal cabinet.

Consensus, cooperation, unity and the delivery of the best services are the primary demands stated in Anwar’s letter, which emphasises the people’s best interests.

It is also hoped that the establishment of this unity government cabinet will include a line of leaders who possess tremendous wisdom, authority and spirit and who are willing to assume the responsibilities that the people have committed to them. Transparency and sincerity in carrying out this trust must be emphasised so that the people have faith in the decisions made.

The public also expect that the essence of the manifesto, which is confirmed as a promise, will be carried out with their interests in mind.

Once the votes have been cast, the promise must be fulfilled. This assures that future national initiatives will be supported by openness and ethical integrity while delivering services to the public. This is the public’s expectation for the next five years of government management.

For the country’s future to be stable and wealthy, there must be competent and well-organised leadership. Definitely, there will undoubtedly be hurdles and obstacles.

However, we are confident in Anwar’s wisdom and authority in guiding this unity government with his experience and insight.

The support of the people is essential to the success of this unity administration. Differences are celebrated via agreement and cooperation. Useful lessons and experiences are offered as examples, while the thorny turns should serve as limits for improvement.
