KUCHING: The private sectors are called to play their part to help Sarawak government to realise their vision in becoming a state with a high-income economy.
In stating this, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan advised the sectors to continuously keep themselves abreast with the latest economic developments as well as adopt Industrial Revolution (IR) 4.0 in order to remain competitive.
“The role of the government is to create a conducive environment that can facilitate businesses to grow and prosper, but the private sector as the engine of growth must be proactive to grab the opportunities made available by the government,” he said.
He said this in his speech when attending Sarawak Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) Platinum Jubilee Dinner at Imperial Hotel last night (Nov 25).
While pointing out that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of the nation’s economy, he said that they have contributed significantly towards the economic growth of the nation.
“With that in mind, we organised Sarawak Entrepreneur of the Year Awards (EOYS) to recognise the successes of these entrepreneurs as cream of the crop in their respective fields and contributions to corporate social responsibilities.
“It is because behind their achievements of receiving the award are the hard work and the long hours that these entrepreneurs have put in to ensure their businesses grow.
“For that, I would like to congratulate tonight’s six recipients on their achievements. With the award, you will join over 60 other EOYS past recipients to inspire the new generation of Sarawakian entrepreneurs to venture beyond conventional business models and markets,” he said.
