BAU: A 16-year-old motorcyclist was killed after his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck along Jalan Bau/Stass here last night (Nov 25).
District police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the police received a report of the accident around 10.30pm.
“The accident happened when the pickup truck broke down and was on the roadside whereas the motorcycle rider was heading towards Bau.
“As the boy was riding along the dark road which had no streetlights, he collided with the pickup truck from behind.
“The collision caused the boy to dismount from his motorcycle onto the road,” said Poge in the statement today (Nov 26).
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from Bau Hospital and was brought to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
He sustained serious injuries to his right wrist, multiple head traumas and a minor laceration on his right knee.
It is learnt that the boy was riding without a licence and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
