KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg paid a visit to newly-minted Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the latter’s residence in Kajang today (Nov 26).
“God willing, the relationship between the federal government and Sarawak will definitely be closer and strengthened in the plan to create a better and more competent Malaysia,” said Anwar in a Facebook post today.
Anwar asserted that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is among the pillars in addition to Barisan Nasional (BN), Warisan and also Gerakan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) that form the unity government that he leads.
Also present during the visit were GPS State Legislative Assembly (DUN) chief whip Datuk Ibrahim Baki, Principal Private Secretary to Premier Datuk Khir Busrah, PH secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
On Thursday (Nov 25), Anwar said the unity federal government formed with the participation of several coalition parties will ensure the stability of the country after being sworn in as the 10th Prime Minister.
He said the three largest coalitions forming the unity government were Pakatan Harapan (PH), Barisan Nasional (BN) and GPS.
“Because the prime minister is (already) from PH, the DPM will likely come from another stronger component coalition, namely, BN, Sabah and Sarawak. A strong component in Sabah, Sarawak is GPS, so this is under consideration,” he said.
