KUCHING: Over the past 40 years, the Association of Wives of Ministers and Assistant Ministers of Sarawak (SABATI) has significantly assisted the needy throughout the state.

Its president Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang said the association will continue to help heart patients who are less fortunate to receive treatments, natural disaster victims and the needy.

“The association has donated various medical equipment, Braille typing equipment, resting chairs for cancer patients while they receive chemotherapy, as well as furniture for orphanages.

“In addition to that, the association has contributed to 57 community rehabilitation organisations (PPDK) throughout the state,” she said.

She said this in her speech through a video presentation at the opening ceremony of Wisma SABATI and SABTI’s 40th anniversary celebration here yesterday.

She added that the success of the association is due to the close cooperation between members who are very committed to the tasks and responsibilities that they are entrusted with.

“We also greatly appreciate the contribution and leadership of Tan Sri Empiang Jabu, Toh Puah Raghad Kurdi Taib and Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu in continuing SABATI’s efforts,” she said.

Earlier, the ceremony witnessed the association donating RM275,000 for various charities.

Among the recipients were 13 centres, organisations and associations who each received RM5,000, making a total contribution of RM65,000; 55 PPDK (RM110,000); and a unit of a Philips ultrasound system to the Sarawak General Hospital (RM100,000).

At the same time, she expressed gratitude and appreciation for how SABATI’s dream of having its own building has become a reality.

“This building became a reality thanks to the strong support and contributions from various parties to jointly make the construction of Wisma Sabati a success.

“I hope that with this building, SABATI can concentrate its activities more efficiently and be able to deliver assistance to all corners of the state.

“I also hope that all members will carry out their duties with dedication and sincerity together,” she pointed out.
