Riot deserves to be in federal Cabinet, says Serian SUPP Youth chief

SERIAN: Serian Member of Parliament (MP) Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem should be given the chance by the new federal government to be a member of the new administration under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as he is an experienced politician.

In a recent press statement, Serian SUPP Youth chief Macswyzer Richard opined that Riot has a good reputation among his supporters because he is a caring and down-to-earth person.

“Furthermore, his big majority in the 15th general election (GE15) is proof that he is well-liked by his supporters in Serian,” said Macswyzer at the Serian Gabungan Parti Rakyat Sarawak (GPS) Youth Appreciation Gathering in Kampung Piching near here.

He added that Riot has the necessary experiences as he has been a Deputy Foreign Minister, Human Resources Minister, and Prime Minister’s Special Envoy to East Asia until before GE15.

“He (Riot) deserved to be given another chance to be in the federal Cabinet with his proven track record in serving the country as well as the people in his constituency.

“He has been serving the people diligently and efficiently, regardless of their race and religion,” Macswyzer added.

Meanwhile, Riot thanked his supporters as well as the three assemblymen under Serian parliamentary, namely Kedup assemblyman Martin Ben, Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus and Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sindang Bada.

“I promised to carry out my duties diligently to further develop Serian to greater heights,” said Riot.

Riot, who is also the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) deputy president, won the seat in a four-cornered fight against Independent candidate Dr Alim Impira, Elsiy Tingang of Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) and Learry Jabol of the Democratic Action Party (DAP).

The 71-year-old MP won the seat convincingly with a majority of 16,697 votes compared to a 9,905-vote majority in GE14.
