MIRI: A motorcyclist was killed, while another rider got injured in a two-motorcycle collision at Jalan Miri-Airport at wee hours of yesterday.
According to Miri district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, prior to the collision, both motorcycles were travelling from the town area heading towards the airport.
He said, upon reaching the area, one of the motorcycles driven by a 20 year-old man had veered off the road, causing the second motorcycle to ram him from behind.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel from Miri Hospital.
The rider of second motorcycle, aged 15, sustained minor bodily injuries.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Alexson also advised the public not to allow their underage children to operate their vehicles as it is an offence framed under Section 39(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
