CSSC set up, will be intervention centre for those affected by social issues: Fatimah

KUCHING: Community Social Support Centre (CSSC) Kuching, the first of its kind in Sarawak will provide assistance to those affected by social issues.

Minister for Women, Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development (KPWK), Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said that the CSCC Kuching will be a referral intervention centre and a social support group supported by the Ministry as well as other facilities.

“Other facilities include Tempat Transit Gelandangan (TTG), Recovery Community Development and Intervention Community Development and Intervention Centre (CDIC) for vulnerable communities, and affected social issues,” she said.

The CSSC Kuching which is located in Jalan Abell, held its first simulation programme on Friday (December 2), along with its presence of the strategic partners and NGOs who will be involved in the CSSC Kuching.

“With the establishment of CSSC Kuching, I hope that further positive impacts can be made in terms of its social inclusivity and a safe space for the vulnerable, risky and affected (VRA).

“CSSC could also help instil the spirit of volunteerism in all layers of society across Sarawak as well as be the model to other areas,” she added.

She said this when officiating the simulation operation of the CSSC Kuching at Wisma Ho Ho Lim at Jalan Abell on Friday (Dec 2).

She pointed out that the establishment of the CSSC Kuching which will officially open to the public on December 15, is an example of the Post Covid Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.

“This is the State government’s commitment to the agenda of social inclusivity where no one is left behind,” she said.

Fatimah also added that this collective responsibility and actions to care for Sarawak must cut across everyone for the sake of sustainable community well-being in Sarawak.

Meanwhile, the event also saw a memorandum of agreement (MOA) signed between the Ministry of Women, Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development (KPWK) and Kuching Bring it On Association.

Among the services provided by the CSSC are the one stop integrated social support and intervention referral services, soup kitchen, community food bank for the VRA, social enterprise space and a mental health community service.

Besides CSSC Kuching, CSSC Sibu, Bintulu, Miri, Lawas, Mukah, Sri Aman and Kapit had been identified to provide assistance to those affected by social issues.
