KUCHING: Sarawak wants stability in the federal government so that everyone can strive to expand the state instead of engaging in pointless politicking, says Datuk Sim Kiang Chiok.

The Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (Sheda) Kuching chairman said this was evident through the representation of various political parties in the Cabinet.

“The prime minister reinforced his commitment to good governance, free from corruption and racism, and economic recovery.

“Whether he has selected the best cabinet to keep all his partners in the unity government happy is yet to be seen.

“Has the new PM selected the cabinet that will be a balance between keeping him in power and moving our country forward in terms of increased income and the distribution of wealth among all of Malaysia?

“We shall have to wait for at least 100 days or even a year before the people can pass their judgment,” he said.

Sim pointed out that the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) now has a Deputy Prime Minister – a first in the history of Sarawak and four full ministers in the new cabinet.

“And all Sarawakian will want to wish them all the best in running our country in this challenging time with the world economy going through a tough time with the Ukraine/Russia War, high inflation, China COVID-19 lockdowns, and supply chain disruptions affecting all the major power countries’ economic growth,” he said.
