KUCHING: About 800 cyclists participated in the Boulevard Fun Ride organised by Boulevard Shopping Mall here yesterday. The cyclists gathered as early as 6.30am at the mall’s outdoor car park and started riding at 7am.
The cyclists began the 29.3-km ride at the mall, proceeded to Batu Kawa, Matang, Satok before returning to the mall. Present to flag off the ride were Minister of Local Government and Housing, Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian, and Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) Commissioner, Dato Wee Hong Seng.
According to Boulevard Shopping Mall Function and Marketing Department Manager, Chin Sze King, the annual fun ride, held for the fifth time this year, received an overwhelming response from the public.
“In organising this fun ride, we want to encourage the public to take part in more healthy activities as we want to cultivate a more healthy culture here,” he explained.
After the ride, the cyclists had the chance to participate in lucky draw session ; up for grabs were five mountain bikes worth RM1,000 each.
Other prizes included 10 Liansin hampers, 20 Nestle hampers, three vouchers for a two days’, one night stay at Imperial Hotel, and two Boulevard hypermarket cash vouchers of RM100 each. Besides the fun ride, the mall also organised other activities such as free health screening, health talk, consultation, food sampling, zumbathon, and bodybuilding from August 2 till yesterday.
