LANGKAWI: The Sarawak Civil Service (SCS) is fully committed to realise the vision of the state government led by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Sarawak State Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said the Premier has introduced a number of policies in a swift manner since assuming the state’s leadership.

“As such, the state civil service must also move as fast as the Premier to keep up with his momentum,” he said.

He said this when speaking at the closing of the High-Performance Team retreat held at the Langkawi International Convention Centre here, on Saturday.

He also said all heads of departments must be on the ground to keep a tab of the developments that is implemented in all districts statewide.

Abu Bakar also paid tribute to past state secretaries – Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani and Datuk Amar Jaul Samion – describing them as pioneers in initiating the annual retreat for civil servants which served as an effective avenue to bring Sarawak forward.

“A total of eight papers were presented and deliberated namely SCS Talent Development and Management, Enforcement and Safety, Rural Transformation, Digital Economy, Revenue Reengineering for Local Authorities, Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030, Development of Local Talent Management and Foreign Workers and Residents and District Offices Divisional Transformation,” he said.

The four-day retreat was attended by more than 200 heads of departments and officers from all the state agencies, departments, statutory bodies, local authorities and GLCs.

The retreat was themed Revisit, Rethink and Recharge with the objectives to generate new ideas and innovations to enhance the service of the SCS.

Also present were Minister of Transport, Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, State Attorney General, Datuk Seri Talat Mahmood Abdul Rashid, State Financial Secretary Datuk Seri Wan Lizosman Wan Omar, deputy state secretaries, Datuk Dr Sabariah Putit, Datuk Dr Muhd. Abdullah Zaidel and Datuk Buckland Bangik.
