KUCHING: The Magistrate’s Court here sentenced a local man to six months in prison for parking a stolen Yamaha motorcycle in front of a supermarket in Yoshi Square in November.

Accused Sharizam, 26, pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 411 of the Penal Code which was read before Magistrate Zaiton Anuar.

He was charged with retaining the stolen property of a Yamaha motorcycle belonging to a 28-year-old male victim, according to the charge sheet.

He had the stolen goods in front of a supermarket in Yoshi Square, Jalan Simen Raya, at about 10 pm, on November 8.

Upon conviction, the offender faces imprisonment for no less than six months but not more than five years, as well as a fine.

The court ruled that the accused to begin serving his prison sentence on November 8, the date of his arrest.

According to the circumstances of the case, on September 24, the complainant reported to the police that his motorcycle had been stolen and was found parked in front of a building in MJC, Batu Kawa.

Last November 8, a police unit from the Cat IPD Kuching team detained a man with a motorcycle under suspicious circumstances.

The accused’s motorcycle was reported missing last September during the inspection.

As a result, the accused has committed a crime by keeping a stolen motorcycle.

The prosecution of the case was handled by Prosecuting Officer ASP Rogayah Rosli while the accused was not represented by a lawyer.
