KUCHING: The Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Asia Pacific Investment Trade Economic Zone (Asiapez) Association to foster digital transformation.
Its chairman Datuk Ik Pahon Joyik said the MoU will act as a platform for DBNA to enhance the socio-economic status of the Bidayuh community through collaborations with government agencies or any other relevant parties.
“DBNA is a platform for us to share how digitalisation can be used to enhance or improve one’s business and Sarawak is fortunate that Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg stresses the usage of digital technology.
“Therefore, our role in the DBNA is to facilitate what is beneficial to the community,” he said in his speech, at the MoU signing ceremony held at the DBNA hall, here last night (Dec 21).
Meanwhile, Asiapez Association vice president Datuk Seri Eric Lee said the MoU will enhance the efficiency of digital transformation among the Bidayuh community and Sarawak as a whole.
“This initiative is a good start for both associations to promote digital transformation,” he said.
In a statement, Asiapez said the platform will create a steering committee to discuss scope and requirements to recruit its business members.
The association urged small- and medium- enterprises (SMEs) to join the platform and become its member-parties to expand and elevate their business territories respectively.
“With this huge force and strength backing, the struggles and burdens of many businessmen will be eased, empowering them to face and overcome financial crisis that was faced during the pandemic.
“This collaboration will enable businesses to rebuild and ride over the economic crisis whilst allowing them to re-establish business confidence,” the association said.
Also present were Asiapez Association president Dr Mazlan Ahmad and DBNA vice president Joseph Jindy.
