KUCHING: The state Health Department (JKN) confirmed that a police arrest was made on the same day of the police report regarding the allegation of a doctor molesting a patient while receiving treatment here in Kuching.
According to its statement, the said doctor was arrested on Dec 29 after a report was made on the allegation.
JKN director Dr Ooi Choo Huck stated that JKN takes such allegations seriously as they concern the professional codes of ethics that apply to both civil servants and medical professionals.
“It has been informed that the case is still under investigation by the police. Therefore, we would like to plead with the public not to make any speculations that could affect the investigation.
“JKN always takes seriously the safety of patients receiving treatment at all its facilities in Sarawak.
“Therefore, we hope that this incident does not affect the treatment services available to the public,” he said.
