KUCHING: Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) has distributed a total of RM4,920 in donations to 41 beneficiaries from the asnaf group with orphan status.
The contribution falls under the two main categories of the TBS programme, namely the Programme for Strengthening Scholarly Traditions and the Programme for Strengthening Community Welfare.
In the same event, TBS also distributed school bags and equipment as well as food packs to all the recipients.
The assistance provided was aimed at easing the burden among orphans in preparing for the school session that will begin soon.
In the meantime, TBS deputy general manager Bolhassan Iskandar Taibi also officiated at the ceremony and presented donations to the recipients.
The donation was handed over at the Human Training Academy, Sarawak Baitulmal Fund Headquarters, here, yesterday.
For the record, as of Nov 30, 2022, TBS has distributed a total of RM76.24 million and of that amount, RM55.31 million in aid has been distributed.
Aid is distributed through four main programmes, which are the Programme for Strengthening Scholarly Traditions, the Programme for Developing Islamic Institutions, the Programme for Strengthening the Welfare of the Ummah and the Programme for Improving the Ummah’s Skills.
Also present at the ceremony were Head of Development & Endowment Sector Abang Faisal Abg. Marzuki, Deputy Head of Corporate Affairs Sector Iskandar Allan, Head of Welfare Division Mohamat Shukri Samor and TBS staff.
