KUCHING: “Syahadah,” a documentary produced by the Magazine and Documentary Unit of Radio Television Malaysia (RTM), received international recognition by winning the Best Documentary Short Film category at the Cannes World Film Festival (CWFF) last Dec 26.
RTM also gained another victory with the episode entitled “Hijrah Muhibah” (Migration Goodwill Malaysia) and won the Best First Time Short Documentary at the International Short Documentary Awards — Bangkok Short Documentary (BKK Short Doc) on Nov 30, last year.
The producer of the programme Azry Ahmad Mustafa, expressed his joy at being able to show the reality of the Muslim and Christian community in Lutong, Miri, who practice the spirit of goodwill.
In its press release, RTM said the re-run of the programme will be shown via the TV1 and TV Okey channels at 4.30pm, today (Jan 1).
The documentary tells the story of a religious preacher, Mohd Zulkifli Mohd Adnan, from Terengganu, who migrated (hijrah) to Lutong in Miri under the advice of fellow religious preachers and also his parents.
The temporary migration has turned permanent after he experienced a life of goodwill between different religions in Lutong.
The spirit of goodwill has enabled him to continue contributing to religious education until now. His presence, too, is greatly appreciated by the people of Miri, who practice the spirit of harmony and tolerance among other religions.
The documentary commenced filming from Feb 14 until Feb 17 last year, with crew members consisting of Azry, Danny Gubes (assistant producer), Irnul Hulaifah Mohammad (cameraman), Suhaily Amit and Lukas Jenau Peggie (drivers); Hisyamudin Ahmad (coordinating producer) and Siti Nurbaini Khairi (executive producer).
