MIRI: The search and rescue (SAR) operation to locate an elderly man who went missing from his home in Pasir Putih, Kuala Suai, on Jan 1, has been expanded to a fourkilometre radius.

It is believed that Adna Sulong, 61, had gone missing in a nearby oil palm plantation that night.

According to acting Miri Fire and Rescue Department chief Ahmad Nizam Sapaiee, today’s SAR involved 41 personnel made up of Bomba Batu Niah, the police, the K9 unit from Bintulu, Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) and nearby villagers.

The SAR today will focus on the plantation area,” he said.

Today’s SAR started at 9am. As of 12 noon the victim has yet to be found.
