KUCHING: Swift actions by Public Work Department (PWD) workers managed to save a luxury multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) from being completely destroyed in a fire at the traffic light intersection in front of Wisma Saberkas yesterday.
Firemen from Batu Lintang station were despatched to the scene, which is along Jalan Batu Lintang, after receiving a distressed call around 2.15pm.
Upon arrival, they found that the flames were already put out by PWD workers using three fire extinguishers.
It was reported that the vehicle’s engine part was damaged 30 per cent.
The team later took over the scene to ensure that the fire was fully extinguished.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
