KUCHING: An emergency lifeboat believed to be from a foreign country drifted ashore on Trombol Beach last evening (Jan 4).
Numerous video clips of the discovery went viral on social media platforms.
No one was found on the vessel ‘BOHAIMINGZHU 2’, based on the words on the exterior part of the vessel.
It remains unknown whether the vessel was carrying any crew members.
Padawan police chief Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad when contacted said information on the discovery was too sketchy.
“I will update you all later once there are details,” he said.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the state Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) confirmed that they were alerted to the discovery of the vessel and are currently in the process of identifying the owner of the lifeboat.
