KUCHING: MBKS has identified six locations in its areas for food truck operators to conduct their business.
The six locations are Tabuan Height Commercial Centre, IOI Commercial Centre, Tabuan Tranquility Commercial Centre, Laksamana Commercial Centre and Taman Sahabat.
“At the moment, there are quite a number of food operators conducting their business using truck (food truck business) and there is a need for us to regularise them,” MBKS Deputy Mayor, Tuan Haji Hilmy Othman told reporters after the MBKS Full Council Meeting here yesterday.
“The state government through the Local Government Ministry has written to us, instructing us to issue licences to the food truck operators,” he said.
“In view of that, we have formed a committee to look into the matters of licensing and the conditions for the food trucks. It has been agreed that the operating hours will be from 1600hrs to 1100hrs (6pm to 11pm) daily in the evening,” he said.
“Hopefully, in the future, we are going to extend it to lunch time. But we will start with this first,” Hilmy said.
“So we are going to confine the locations to the seven unlicensed food trucks first. We are going to issue them the licence and they have to comply with the conditions in the licence,” he added.
