KUCHING: The postnatal care programme can provide job opportunities for women.
In stating this, Women, Early Childhood, and Community Well-being Development Ministry permanent secretary Datuk Rashidah Bolhassan said it would help women, especially single mothers, the elderly, and low income group gain skills in the aspect of postnatal care and give them opportunities to generate income.
She explained that under the programme, various seminars and workshops were implemented for its practitioners.
“Moreover, the implementation of this programme also commercialises the value of traditional and modern massage.
“The existence of this kind of service is also one of the foundations of helping women while indirectly raising the value of the women’s ability in the world of entrepreneurship and psycho-social skills,” she said.
She said this when officiating the Koperasi Mamacare Sarawak Berhad Mini Convocation for postpartum maternal care at Serapi Hotel on yesterday (Jan 14).
She stated that the government was always concerned and strives to improve the well-being of women, especially in the aspect of healthcare.
“Therefore, through this programme, practitioners are asked to highlight traditional Malay massage not only as an alternative treatment but to also provide comfort or therapy for their clients.
“With all 27 practitioners graduating here, I hope that all of you will register with the Traditional and Complementary Medicine (T&CM) Act 2016 [Act 775] under the Ministry of Health before Feb 2024 to be skilled and licensed practitioners,” she added.
