KUCHING: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Caring Society Programme under MBKS has recently assisted a man by making use of the emergency reserved unit at KMC flat to accommodate him and his family.

Mayor of MBKS, Datuk Wee Hong Seng said the council has been notified by Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian on Bong Kin’s situation.

“Bong Kin’s house is in Batu Kawa and the house is not suitable as he is currently bed bound and unable to care for himself due to hypertensive intracranial bleeding,” he said in a statement.

He added that Bong’s family agreed to bear the cost of the utility deposit for Kuching Water Board (KWB) and Syarikat Sesco Berhad (SESCO) as the other expenses had been taken care by the council, Social Welfare Department and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

“Deputy Premier’s office has assisted Bong on the monthly rentals through the Sarawak Rental Assistance Scheme (SRAS) under Sarawak Housing Development Corporation (HDC),” he added.

He would also like to thank KWB and SESCO for their prompt action on the connection of the utilities at the said unit.

“I would like to appeal to the general public to be generous and caring toward the less fortunate.

“Let us all work together, to reach out to many people who are having any form of hardships.

“The minimum we can do is to share our love, assist them and give support for the family,” he added.

Staff of the council discuss the situation with Bong’s family members.
