KUCHING: A female pedestrian was pronounced dead in a hit-and-run incident at Jalan Kuching-Sri Aman around 1am today.
According to Serian district police chief DSP Aswandy Anis, the victim, an Indonesian woman aged 19, was walking with a male friend towards Pantu when the accident happened.
“After colliding with the victim, the driver of the vehicle immediately left and drove away from the scene,” he said.
Investigations are currently being made to locate the driver’s whereabouts.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by medical officers, and her body was sent to Serian Hospital for a post-mortem.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
