BAU: Police arrested six men for playing ‘holo’ – an illegal dice-based gambling at a house in Taman Siniawan, Jalan Kuching-Bau last night (Jan 23).

Bau police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said an operation codenamed ‘Op Limau’ was carried out by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) around 10.45pm.

“The local suspects aged between 21 and 47 were in the midst of placing their bets on a piece of cloth adorned with animal images in the housing compound when we arrested them.

“Also seized were the gambling paraphernalia and some cash,” he said.

The suspects who did not have any prior records, were taken to the police station for further action.

The case is being investigated under Section 7(2) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953, which carries a fine of up to RM5,000 or a jail sentence for a term up to six months or both.
